Services: Digital Printing on Handmade Papers

Posted by ashley mcneill on

Yes, we can do that!

Arturo (digital + letterpress; not handmade but deckled edge), Porridge (digital),
and Rag Papeterie (digital)

Notes:

  • CMYK only, we can't do white toner.

  • Sorry, no handmade envelopes, they're too thick for our machines. Best option is letterpress return address and then send to calligrapher for hand addressing.

  • It's expensive. Very time consuming and lots of waste. If your design is only 1 color, letterpress is probably going to be cheaper! But, if it's a beautiful illustration, multi-color, or a small quantity, digital is definitely the way to go.

  • Be mindful of margins - we can't do a full bleed and with the unpredictability of handmade sizes and shapes, we'd hate for your design to get cut off (but we'll send photos for your approval before proceeding.)

  • Sizes we can print: menu, A9, A6, A7, A2. 4bars don't feed; if it doesn't need to be mailed, and the margins are friendly, we can print 2-up on A9 and hand tear in half.

  • We stock Porridge Papers in A7 and A2, with some colors in A9, menu, and A6.
Cotton, porcelain, magnolia, wheat, wool, novelette, fog, bluestem, and lambs ear. Other colors or brands can be special-ordered.

  • Our favorite is combining a beautiful illustration with letterpress text, like the photo below - top center:
Porridge Papers (digital with blind impression), Porridge (digital with 1-color letterpress), and Eliv Rosenkranz (digital with blind impression.)
